An 8-year-old Pakistani hero girl has grabbed everyone’s attention by saving the life of her newborn baby sister.
An interesting incident has taken place outside the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in which an 8-year-old Pakistani girl bravely donated her bone marrow to save her newborn sister.
Bone marrow is a soft substance that fills the hollow parts of bones.
According to reports, 9-month-old Afifah was suffering from severe lymphoblastic leukemia, a type of blood and bone marrow cancer, which required a bone marrow transplant to survive.
A medical team at Burjeel Medical City in Ajman, led by Dr. Zainul Abedin, conducted Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) typing of Afifah’s family and found that her 8-year-old sister, Nazia Zahra, was perfectly fine.
Nazia donated her bone marrow to her sister on December 1, 2022. The procedure was successful. However, after the bone marrow, Afifah faced complications such as infections, but the medical team successfully managed them, and Afifah health continued to improve.
