KARACHI – In a rare appearance, Lt Gen Nadeem Ahmed Anjum, the head of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), made startling revelations about the cypher issue and the meeting between the former prime minister and the current Army chief.

The nation’s spymaster appeared on television for the first time to remark on conspiracies and address claims made against the armed forces.

Speaking to the press, he disclosed that in March of this year, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, the Chief of Army Staff, was offered an indefinite extension. The top general rejected the offer presented to him right away, according to DG ISI, who claimed to have witnessed it.

On March 11, when the former premier referred to the cypher issue as being “not a huge deal,” the COAS also spoke with the head of the PTI, according to Director General Inter-Services Public Relations Lieutenant General Babar Iftikhar.

Then he showed disbelief, stating it surprised him that a piece of paper was waved on March 27 in an effort to create a novel narrative.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa is stepping down and won’t be asking for a raise, and after his tenure ends on November 29, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will choose the new COAS.
