Farrukh Usman founded Byonyks, which creates easy-to-use, smart, portable, and bloodless dialysis machines that kidney patients may use from the comfort of their own homes.

Byonyks, based in Chicago, has opened Pakistan’s first dialysis equipment manufacturing plant in Lahore. With its high-tech dialysis equipment, the Byonyks X1, the business hopes to make dialysis more inexpensive, safe, and painless.

The Byonyks X1 is a bloodless dialysis equipment, which implies that it will not allow any blood loss, unlike traditional dialysis in hospitals. The Byonyks, which is as small as a box, is portable and has an intuitive interface, allowing kidney patients to undergo dialysis at home.

Over eight million kidney disease patients worldwide do not have access to dialysis, a costly, invasive, and time-consuming technique that filters the blood when the kidneys are no longer able to do so. Pakistan alone has millions of dialysis patients who frequently suffer as a result of excessive prices and inadequate medical facilities.

With the Byonyks Bloodless DialysisTM equipment in operation, millions of dialysis patients in Pakistan will have access to crucial treatment that will make their lives much simpler. Dialysis patients in Pakistan spend an average of 12-15 hours each week at the hospital; with Byonyks, this time can be spent with their loved ones at home, making their lives much more efficient.

But how much do the Byonyks dialysis machines cost? Yes, Byonyks has established a state-of-the-art gadget manufacturing plant in Lahore to make the equipment more affordable and accessible. Because it is manufactured and supplied in Pakistan, the Byonyks machine will be cheap to patients.

Farrukh Usman, Founder & CEO of Byonyks, is a Pakistani-American citizen who established the Byonyks factory in 2021 and got permission from the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) in October 2022.

“I am impressed by people’s affection in Pakistan and the level of education supplied at colleges; this nation will be the future.” Byonyks Chief Electrical Engineer, Dr. Frank Rudolph

Farrukh’s motive for developing the Byonyks dialysis machine is emotional. He witnessed her Khala (Aunt) suffer as a result of a difficult dialysis operation and resolved to make it simpler for millions of other dialysis sufferers.

“My own Khala was undergoing dialysis. My mum is diabetic and shares the same genetic sequence. Why must we transport our loved ones to a dialysis centre? Why do we need to stick a needle into their arm? Why must we expose the blood to HCV infections? Do you aware that dialysis clinics are the source of HCV for 70% of patients in Pakistan and the developing world? We will treat our loved ones in the comfort of their own homes and at their convenience. Bloodless DialysisTM eliminates the need for a needle and any heart arrhythmia.” Farrukh stated.

“There’s a bigger purpose to it; millions of people are dying without this technology, which is why I’m here in Pakistan,” Eric Flachbart, Co-founder and VP of Regulatory Affairs, said. Eric has been in Lahore, Pakistan, since early 2022 to assist with this operation.
