Due to escalating smog conditions, government and private schools in six divisions of Punjab will be closed on Friday and Saturday (Nov 24, and Nov 25). Additionally, markets, gyms, shops, and cinemas in Lahore will observe closure until 3 pm on both days, with a complete lockdown on Sunday.

Lahore Smog Holidays Notification

Below is the official notification issued by Punjab Govt.

CM announced Holidays due to smog

This decision follows a high-level meeting convened by Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi to address the worsening smog situation in the province, where Lahore currently ranks as the most polluted city globally.

The precautionary measures are specifically targeted at areas severely affected by smog, including Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Gujranwala divisions, and extend to Sialkot, Gujrat, Narowal, Hafizabad, and Mandi Bahauddin on the same day.

To combat the crisis, the Punjab caretaker cabinet’s anti-smog committee has announced proactive steps. The Air Quality Index level had surpassed 500, contributing to the increased smog in Lahore.

This notification is also in effect in District Jhang.
