LAHORE: According to ARY News, ARY News anchor Chaudhry Ghulam Hussain on Saturday entered a petition in a court in Lahore asking for release in a case involving alleged bank fraud.

In the district and sessions court in Lahore, Chaudhry Ghulam Hussain’s attorney, Azhar Siddique, filed the argument. According to the plea, the anchorperson was detained by the FIA in a false case.

The petitioner argued that neither he nor any of his associates had ever obtained a bank loan. He begged the judge to accept his bail request in the “false” case.

In a case involving alleged bank fraud, a district court in Lahore on Friday placed ARY News anchor Chaudhry Ghulam Hussain under judicial remand.

On Thursday night in Lahore, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) detained ARY News anchor Chaudhry Ghulam Hussain.

The FIA brought Ghulam Hussain before the court and asked the judicial magistrate overseeing today’s proceedings to order the veteran journalist’s 14-day physical detention.

The anchor was listed as “wanted” by the FIA’s Commercial Banking Circle in case number 94/2011, according to a statement from the agency.

The statement added that two of Ghulam’s sons were also engaged in the case and that Ghulam had obtained a loan from a bank in 2003 for more than Rs50 million using forged documents.

According to the FIA, Hussain has a non-bailable warrant for his arrest from a financial court in Lahore. It continued, “Further investigations are in progress.
