Samar Khan, an adventure athlete, has successfully summited and snowboarded a virgin peak of 5,610 metres, ushering in a “new culture of backcountry snowboarding in the country.”
Khan, who is from KP’s Dir district, was the first to reach the summit, followed by her companions Azam Baig, Hashir Rafique, Jaffar Ullah, and Zehran Baig.
According to the handout, the peak was called “Ghar e Samar” after Khan, who was the first to climb and snowboard on it.
“A new channel of winter extreme sports has been established for Pakistan’s striving young, which has a big potential considering the largest mountain ranges we have,” it added.
