For a firm that constantly mocks Apple, Samsung undoubtedly likes to follow in its footsteps. Only a month ago, iOS 16 introduced lock screen customization for iPhones, and while Android has had these options for some time, Samsung is now adding even more flexibility to its lock screen with One UI 5.

The newest upgrade to Samsung’s own Android skin has begun to be sent to Galaxy devices worldwide. For the time being, it is only available on the latest and finest phones, but it should gradually spread to cheaper and older models as well. Owners of the Galaxy S22 (Exynos version) in some locations have already begun getting the OTA update.

A slew of other Galaxy phones are still in the beta programme, working out any flaws before receiving their own stable versions, but Samsung pledges to send the upgrade to all eligible phones shortly.

What has changed in One UI 5?

The business has also published an official One UI 5 introductory video, which highlights all of the main forthcoming features.

Customization will be taken to the next level with a single UI 5 lock screen. You will be able to select numerous photographs from your phone gallery to function as a wallpaper carousel, as well as films, to display on your lock screen. It will also select colours from your background to fit the time and date. You may manually select colours and styles or let the phone do it for you.

More practical features include stacked widgets, which allow you to swipe between multiple widgets on a single tile. The security and privacy dashboards will be unified, and Galaxy Watches will receive more customization choices. Bixby will perform better when converting text to speech and voice to text.
