ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, a prominent PML-N politician, was named Minister of Law and Justice by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday.
This comes only days after Azam Nazir Tarar resigned as law minister, claiming personal reasons.

According to a Cabinet Division statement, Sadiq has been assigned the portfolios of law and justice in addition to his duties as minister of economic affairs.
Tarar resigned last week, stating he was honoured to have served under the capable leadership of Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Mian Shehbaz Sharif. However, owing to personal issues, he was unable to remain as Federal Minister.
It went on to say, “Therefore, in accordance with Clause (3) of Article 92 of the Constitution of the Republic of Pakistan.
Later, in a social media post, the former minister stated that at the Asma Jahangir Conference, a tiny group of people chanted chants against state institutions.
Tarar stated that those engaged in sloganeering had forgotten the hardships and sacrifices of institutions.
