SYDNEY, Australia — The Pakistani side has been dealt another setback before of the crucial match against South Africa, as top-order hitter Fakhar Zaman has been ruled out.

PCB officials and the chief medical officer indicated that a former Navy serviceman’s knee ailment had deteriorated, and management was aware of the hazards of including him in the team.

Fakhar’s participation in the forthcoming games is also doubtful with his withdrawal from the upcoming match against South Africa.

While management searches for a substitute for the left-handed hitter, the PCB medical officer stated that scans revealed no new injury, but the player does not feel 100 percent. He also stated that injuries need time to heal.

The former Pakistani suffered a knee injury while fielding in the Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka on Sunday and will miss the home series against England.
