Usman Buzdar, the former chief minister of Punjab, has been placed under arrest by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in connection with allegations of abuse of power and possession of properties beyond means.

According to sources, the NAB headquarters has directed its employees in Lahore to compile evidence against the former chief minister and secure his arrest within the next 15 days.

In order to learn more about the properties owned by Buzdar, NAB Lahore has written to the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and other housing societies. An investigation into the case of assets beyond means has also been started.

Additionally, the former prime minister is accused of abusing his position to grant an unauthorised licence to a private hotel in the province.

According to reports, Buzdar might be called before the NAB in Lahore for questioning soon.

The former chief minister’s attorney, meanwhile, claimed that all allegations against his client are motivated by politics.
