Celebrity chef and MasterChef India Season 1 winner Pankaj Bhadouria recently shared a video on Instagram in which he shared several recipes to balance out excess salt in food recipes.

For gravy items: (salon etc.)

If you want to reduce the saltiness of a gravy item or dal, chef Pankaj Bhadouria suggests reheating it in a pan and adding small balls of kneaded flour. Kneaded dough (wheat) balls absorb excess salt. Apart from this, milk, cream or boiled potatoes can also help in salting.

For dry foods: (roasted or vegetable etc.)

For dry or roasted foods such as potato, cabbage, peas, kale, roast beef, etc., a great way to balance out the extra salt is to add lemon juice, chopped tomatoes or tomato puree. Another alternative as suggested by Chef Bhadauria is yogurt, yogurt also reduces the effectiveness of salt.
