Xiaomi held a launch event in China earlier this week, when it showcased a variety of new devices, including the Xiaomi Book Air 13, a MacBook Air rival. It has a rare OLED screen and the most recent Intel processors for superior performance and efficiency.

The laptop, as the name suggests, has a 13.3-inch screen with an OLED panel with a 2880 x 1800px resolution, a 16:10 aspect ratio, and extra protection thanks to Gorilla Glass 3. Because of its touchscreen functionality and a 360-degree hinge that allows the screen to be flipped around, the laptop can simply be converted into a tablet.

The screen supports Dolby Vision and is HDR 500 certified. It also has DC dimming and covers the entire DCI-P3 colour space. Its two tweeter speakers are Dolby Atmos-enabled. The entire package weighs about 1.2kg and is only 12mm thick, making it a strong ergonomic challenger to the MacBook Air.

The laptop is available in two variants, one with a Core i7-1250U CPU and one with an i5-1230U CPU. Both models come included with 16GB of LPDDR5 5200MHz memory and a 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD. This should allow the laptop to run a few low-end games without requiring a powerful hardware.

There is a 58.3Wh battery onboard, as well as 65W wired charging capabilities, which is most likely PD compatible. Ports are limited to two Thunderbolt 4 connectors and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Pricing information has not yet been established, and it is unknown whether the laptop will be offered outside of China. It will only be available in white, as opposed to the MacBook Air, which comes in a number of paint treatments.
