ARY Digital Network Haji Muhammad Iqbal announced support for Arshad Sharif Shaheed’s family
Arshad Sharif Shaheed’s family and the late news anchor’s children would get lifetime assistance until they are able to sustain themselves as adults, according to ARY Digital Network Chairman Haji Muhammad Iqbal on Wednesday.
Senior journalist Arshad Sharif, a former anchor for ARY News, was assassinated in Kenya, where he was exiled. After Arshad Sharif’s post-mortem and return to his home country, Kenyan police initially claimed that the veteran journalist was killed in a “mistaken identity” incident.
However, several Kenyan news outlets have since questioned both the police’s actions and the circumstances surrounding Sharif’s death.
Arshad Sharif leaves behind two widows, his mother, and five children. Since the martyr was once employed by ARY News, the organisation would provide financial support to Arshad Sharif’s family and his children until they are independent, according to Haji Muhammad Iqbal, Chairman of ARY Network.
