Zimbabwe stunned Pakistan with a one-run victory on Thursday, threatening the Asian powers with an early departure from the Twenty20 World Cup.
Zimbabwe were restricted to 130-8 after deciding to bat first, but their spinners, headed by Pakistan-born Sikandar Raza, suffocated Pakistan to 129-8 for a thrilling Super 12 victory in Perth.

It was Pakistan’s second consecutive setback following their agonising opening defeat to archrival India, who leads Group 2 with two wins out of two.

“Very sad performance by my squad,” Babar Azam stated. In terms of batting, we fell short. We struggled in the opening six overs. Shadab and Shan formed a partnership, but Shadab was out and then back-to-back wickets put pressure on the batsmen. We did not use the new ball well in the first six overs, but we ended nicely later on. We’ll sit down together, learn from our errors, and come back strong the next time.”
