PESHAWAR – Unofficial results show that Imran Khan, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), easily won the by-election in the NA-45 Kurram constituency on Sunday.

According to unofficial results from all 143 polling places, Khan received 20,748 votes, followed by Jamil Khan of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), who received 12,718 votes.

Despite being disqualified from running in the Toshakhana case by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Khan won this by-election.

After voting, which began at 8am and went until 5pm under heavy supervision, the counting of ballots began.

Due to the lack of law and order in the district, the Kurram by-election was postponed on October 16.

Imran Khan, Jamil Khan of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal (JUI-F), and Sher Muhammad Khan of Jamaat Islami (JI) were three of the 16 candidates running in the by-election.

According to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Election Commission, there are 198,618 registered voters in the constituency, 111,349 of them are men and 87,269 of whom are women (KP)
