IT Ministry Launched Rs1 Billion High-Speed Internet in Tharparkar & Gwadar

In order to improve connection in the districts of Tharparkar and Gwadar, the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MOITT) on Friday unveiled two projects totalling Rs 1 billion.

The Universal Service Fund (USF) board authorised the award of two contracts worth roughly Rs1.06 billion to Telenor and Ufone for the unserved and underserved areas in the provinces of Balochistan and Sindh on the direction of the Minister of Information Technology and Telecommunications.

Syed Amin UlHaque, the federal minister for IT and telecommunications, stated that they are the owners of Sindh’s urban and rural areas and are consistently implementing OFC, broadband, and other connectivity projects for them without making any distinctions.

The Tharparkar district will soon have access to mobile and high-speed internet services thanks to a project that will cost more than Rs870 million.

More than 72,000 people living in several underserved villages scattered over an area of 10,432 sq km will have access to mobile and broadband capabilities thanks to this initiative, which will be finished in 18 months.

In a formal announcement, Haque claimed that a broadband project for more than 15,000 people in 19 villages in the Balochistan city of Gwadar, costing Rs188.1 million, had also been approved.

The completion of these projects, according to him, will give residents of remote, underserved, and under-served areas of Balochistan and Sindh the chance to not only connect with the online world, but also to use this connectivity for convenience in their daily lives, their businesses, and other needs.

The Minister congratulated the Chairman of the USF Board of Directors.
