Netflix Announces for Extra Charge for Users On One Account in 2023

As the media behemoth prepares to launch its long-promised crackdown on account sharing, Netflix sent a warning to streaming freeloaders that their days are numbered.

During its quarterly results call on Tuesday, the business mentioned that it would start charging customers more early in 2019 for sharing a Netflix account.

Following Netflix’s April earnings release, which revealed weak first-quarter profitability hurt by a decline in subscribers, executives initially hinted about the sharing levies.

According to Netflix, “We’ve settled on a considered strategy to commercialise account sharing and we’ll start rolling this out more generally starting in early 2023.”
“After considering customer input, we will provide users the option to create sub-accounts so they may more easily manage their devices and make payments for family or friends.
The new programme is a response to the widespread pandemic of password sharing that has dogged the business since its start. Even though Netflix strongly advises customers against sharing their passwords with individuals they don’t know, the practise is said to cost the streaming service more than $6 billion annually in lost income from users who use other people’s accounts.
