KARACHI – At the most recent Asma Jahangir gathering, several government figures rejected sloganeering against the Pakistan Army, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Videos of some of the participants calling the nation’s military services terrorists provoked uproar on social media and received harsh criticism. The army is being disparaged by Manzoor Pashteen’s followers in an effort to incite the populace against the military.

PM Shehbaz Sharif criticised anti-army sloganeering as the obscene videos went viral and said it was terrible that such platforms were being used to attack the military forces.

The prime minister reaffirmed that the ruling alliance is steadfastly dedicated to upholding the right to free speech, but she bemoaned the fact that the conference was being exploited for partisan political purposes.

He added that using platforms like the Asma Jahangir Conference for anti-army sloganeering was sad since our soldiers were giving their lives to defend Pakistan from both internal and external dangers.

He urged everyone to act more responsibly in public.

A number of PML-N ministers, PTI leaders, and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari all denounced the event.
